To access Nano Banana, open the Gemini app:
Open the tools menu and select '🍌 Create images'.
Choose your preferred speed and depth from the model menu: 'Fast', 'Thinking', or 'Pro'.
Type in your prompt or upload a photo to start editing
Google AI Pro, Plus and Ultra users can regenerate images using Nano Banana Pro by selecting the three-dot menu and then 'Redo with Pro'.
1. Start with a simple formula
Begin with a basic structure and build from there:
[Action] + [Subject] + [Setting] + [Atmosphere]
Basic: "Create an image of a cat napping."
Better: "Generate an image of a ginger tabby napping in a sunbeam on a rustic wooden windowsill."
2. Be as specific as you can with the detail
Specificity is your best friend. Instead of asking for "a person in a coat," try describing the texture, the weather, and the vibe. The more you "paint the picture" with words, the better Nano Banana can render it.
Prompt Tip: Instead of "a woman in a red dress," try "a woman in a flowing crimson silk dress running through a misty park at dawn."
3. Take composition, style and image quality into consideration.
Think about how you want the elements in your image to be arranged (composition), the visual style that you want to achieve (style), the desired level of image quality (image quality) and the aspect ratio (size). Try something like, 'Generate an image of a blurry poky porcupine flying in space in the style of an oil painting with a 2:3 aspect ratio'.
4. Be creative
Gemini excels at the surreal. If you want a "prickly hedgehog flying through a nebula in the style of a 1970s sci-fi book cover," go for it. Creativity is where the model really shines.
If the image is nearly there but the background is a bit "meh" or you want to swap a hat for a crown, you don’t need to start from scratch, you can take control of your images by telling Gemini to change the background, replace an object or add an element – all while preserving the details that you love.
Consistent with our AI principles, this AI image generator was designed with responsibility in mind. And to ensure that there's a clear distinction between visuals created with Gemini and original human artwork, Gemini uses an invisible SynthID watermark, as well as a visible watermark to show that they are AI-generated.
